GFF TO LAUNCH WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
1st September, 2016; Georgetown: The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in collaboration with the National Association For Women’s Football (NAWF) will launch the Women’s Development League Football at 11:00hrs on Saturday, 3rd September, 2016 at the National Resource Centre, Woolford Avenue, Georgetown.
This is the first Women’s Development League being held since the new executive has been at the helm and will commence on the 17th September.
The launch will feature the introduction of a patron for Women’s Football and an ambassadorial corps of prospective Match Commissioners and Brand Ambassadors.
The two-month league will realize the participation of thirteen (13) clubs drawn from three-geographically designated districts:
- District One – North East District comprising Georgetown, West Demerara, Essequibo and Bartica Regional Football Associations.
- District Two – North East District comprising Berbice, East Demerara, East Bank and the Upper Demerara Football Associations and
- District Three – Rupununi Regional Football Association
The Women’s Development League is designed to facilitate competitive women’s football participation, create public awareness of the sport and to expand the players’ pool.
As a lead up to the launch, gears will be presented to the Associations at 17:00hrs on Friday, 2nd September, 2016 including footballs, boots, jersey, shorts, socks, complete goalkeeping kit, bibs and shin guards. The presentation will be made at the Boardroom, GFF.
