GFF TO HOST REFEREEING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME (RAP)
22nd August, 2016; Georgetown: The annual Guyana Football Federation (GFF) / FIFA Refereeing Assistance Programme (RAP) is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 24th August, 2016 with participation from 20 national Elite and Assistant Referees, 10 from each team.
The five-day programme will commence with a Referees Fitness test at the National Track and Field Facility, Leonora on Wednesday at 06:00hrs and will continue with the formal opening at the National Resource Centre at 13:00hrs. The daily sessions are scheduled to conclude at 17:00hrs.
Among the areas to be addressed during the RAP are the revised FIFA Laws of The Game and their respective interpretation and will consist of classroom and field sessions. The field sessions are scheduled for the Ministry of Education’s Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown on Friday and Saturday at 15:00hrs – 17:00hrs and Sunday at 06:00hrs – 08:00hrs respectively.
The sessions will be facilitated by two FIFA personnel – Peter Prendergast, FIFA Regional Development Officer / Technical Instructor and the FIFA Fitness Instructor, Allan Morgan Browne. It will be complemented by Head of the GFF’s Referees’ Department, Stanley Lancaster along with Roy Mc Arthur and Ingraham Johnson who are Local Technical Instructors and Lindley Langhorne, Physical Fitness Instructor.
The RAP is a capacity building programme which seeks to create uniformity among elite referees and enable same to meet the demands of the game.
