GFF ELITE LEAGUE OPENS ON SUNDAY WITH THRILLING DOUBLE HEADER
18th November, Georgetown: The third season of the GFF Elite League will kick off tomorrow with two exciting matches preceded by a grand opening ceremony at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora.
The first match will begin at 16:00hrs featuring Fruta Conquerors FC vs New Amsterdam United FC while the second is scheduled for 20:00hrs and will involve GDF FC vs Western Tigers FC. The opening ceremony, including a march pass, is scheduled for 18:00hrs
According to the tournament fixtures, the first phase of the league will run until March 28 with a break in December playing at six venues including Mc Kenzie Sports Club, Linden; #5 Ground, Berbice; National Track and Field Centre, Leonora; Den Amstel Community Centre Ground, Tucville Ground and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Ground, Camp Ayanganna(Click link to see tournament fixtures Fixtures 2017, 2018 – Nov 15)
This year’s tournament, under the theme, “My League, Players First,” will see the players being the focus with a number of incentives including the following:
- Increased players’ match fees
- Access to all elite league games, with guest, whether playing or not on the day.
- Access to all GFF-hosted international matches.
- Meals provided on match day for each player and coaching staff for the participating clubs.
- Insured players. GFF has facilitated with the insurance provider
Among the prizes up for grabs for the season’s winners are five million dollars for the winner; two million dollars for the second-placed team; one million dollars for the third-placed team and five hundred thousand dollars for the fourth-placed team.
This year’s league sponsors include E.C Vieira Investments, Camex Restaurants, Impressions Branding, Marics (Honda) and Automobile Power Products.
All games will attract a five hundred dollar ($500.00) entry fee
